A Clients Journey: Struggling With Stretch Marks At A Young Age

Stretch marks tend to be associated with pregnancy, but you can get stretch marks from growth spurts too! They may appear as early as your teenage years: a time when hormones change and rapid growth cause stretching of the skin. This is especially prevalent on the buttocks and thigh areas. It can be frustrating for men and women because these occurrences are out of a growing person’s control.

Growth Spurt Stretch Marks

Jessica got stretch marks at an early age from a growth spurt. As she entered her early twenties, she found herself covering up to hide her bum stripes. She was the only 23-year-old girl out of all her friends that had stretch marks, and she felt that she shouldn’t have them at such a young age.

She booked a free consultation with Jayd to discuss her concerns and soon after started her camouflage tattoo journey. Our goal was to help her feel comfortable baring her bottom in a bikini again.

Jessica was a great candidate for the stretch mark camouflage tattoo because her stretch marks were white and flat. See her before picture above.

Her full camouflage tattoo journey took one session and one touch-up to complete, totaling 7 hours for the procedure on both her left and right cheek.

After her first session, she had some redness and swelling of the skin, which typically resides in 1-3 days post-procedure.

Jessica took great care of her tattooed areas. They were healing nicely after 7-10 days as the ink started to settle in. The ink goes through a transition of phases before revealing the final results.

It took Jesssica  45 days to completely heal before coming in for her minor touch-up session. The appearance of her stretch marks were dramatically reduced and concealed. These results were after just one session (before her minor touch-up)..

Some FAQs on Growth Spurt Stretch Marks

CAN GROWTH SPURTS CAUSE STRETCH MARKS?

Yes stretch marks can appear during puberty’s rapid growth spurt. This happens when a teen is growing too fast and the body cannot produce enough collagen to make your skin more responsive and elastic to keep up with the growth.

DO GROWTH SPURT STRETCH MARKS GO AWAY?

Stretch marks due to growth spurt are unlikely to go away on their own. This is due to the elastic fibers of the skin being stretched beyond the limits of your skin during a growth spurt. There are, however, ways to make the stretch marks less noticeable, such as laser treatments, micro-needling, carboxytherapy, dermabrasion, and skin-tone stretch mark camouflage tattoo.
